Why would I need an account?

Having an account will help preserve trial logs indefinitately. When the Trail Log feature was initially added to this site, log data was kept in browser cookies. This method was simple and required users to provide no personal information.
Since that time, browsers have evolved to delete 'cookies' after a relatively short time. Consequently, Trail Logs disappear after a month or two.
By creating an account, you can create and maintain multiple trail logs indefinitely since they will be stored on the server instead of locally in your browser cookies. This has the added advantage that you can access the same trail log from multiple devices.
To create an account, you are required to provide a short userid and an email address. The email address is used for password recovery.
We do not share email addresses with 3rd parties. Other than email confirmation and account recovery, we have no intention of sending you any type of email.
